Key Themes.
Punk fashion will continue to evolve into the fall of 2014, with “styles that preserve a subversive undercurrent” prevailing on the street.
Plaid patterns in its grungy and chic manifestations is also predicted to stay on as a major pattern trend, with its dishevelled appeal effortlessly glamming up.
1950’s classic trend, signature elements of femininity. The swing jackets and full skirt fantasies will be re-envisioned together with the cinched waists and elbow length gloves, calling to icons like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.
Cut-out clothing. Exposing just the right amount of skin while growing into a statement of style and poise, the cutaway clothing is yet to make its final statement.
Digital prints. Incredibly beautiful and beyond captivating, the digital prints and patterns adorning nearly every type of silhouette are bound to grow bolder and louder. But in doing so they will still manage to hold on to their indisputable gentleness.
Folk fashion. The folk motifs and the gorgeous embroideries that are deeply-rooted in tradition entered the fashion scene in a subtle manner, taking hold of the fashion world quite unexpectedly.
1960’s fashion. Signalling its preference for the 60s, classy shift dresses and seamless coats hitting mid thigh, the fall of 2014 is set to also mark the return to high necks and neutral colors. This fashion is expected to grow into a manifestation of modern minimalism.
PVC clothing, accessories and shoes / boots. The fall 2014 will also be witnessing the development of PVC clothing, as the plastic garments persist in entering luxury territory. From coats to accessories and skirts, pants and boots.
- No season without its fair share of sparkle, appears to be paved with enough shining beads and luxurious crystals. Less extravagant and more on the sophisticated side, embellishments become key to accent both femininity and the concept of modern luxury.
1980’s pop trend. The play on bold volumes continues which will be marching on with its boxy shoulders and ample silhouettes. Expected to come together into a larger than life statement, the 1980’s signature elements of colour, detailing and sharp cuts will only rise higher and higher.
- Under constant evolution, the sports theme appears to be unstoppable as it currently building its way. With more of its signature accessories and elements replaced by solid platform heels and elongated silhouettes, the sports theme gains a highly sophisticated perspective for the near future.
Moto theme. Powerful and edgy, oozing a different kind of sex-appeal, the Moto girls covered in layers of leather and moody colours will still be ruling the runways. Expect new takes on the biker jackets, more leather boots, zippers, buckles and sexy mini-skirt silhouettes.
Pastel colours. This season they successfully replaced the moody greys. Pastel colours have more to paint and prove as they enter the fall. Expect more of the dusty rose, mint, lavender and ice blue to be veiling garments in the softest tones.
Psychedelic prints. Double knits and macramé will serve to bring together the plethora of psychedelic prints expected to invade the trends. A direct nod to the 1970s, the kaleidoscopic prints are set to breathe new life into next season’s dresses and colourful separates.
The colours we wear have the power to change our mood and shape our entire outfit. They can make us blend in or stand out. And they move in trends, just as themes and cuts do. May the fashion force be with you!
