Parenting with Heart and Soul
Step into your role as a parent as there is no more room for “testing the waters”. That role entails bridging the gap between you and your children and connecting your soul with the concept of parenthood. Contrary to popular believe, yelling and hitting is not parenting but more like punishing !!!! Guide your children with love and understanding, because parenting is not a science….It is simply an ART.
Remember no-one walks away unscathed from childhood. So when things are not working, first start with yourself and heal any issues that are blocking you from responding to your children in a positive and loving manner.
Our job, as parents, is to help our children make good choices, boost their confidence levels, teach them how to believe in themselves and most importantly to instill good values into them. As a parent if you have no idea what confidence means nor do you believe in yourself by never acknowledging your strengths and weaknessess, you are not going to be able to parent with heart and soul. It is high time to heal your wounds and embrace parenthood…
Most parents complain about the lack of responsibility of their kids. The question is, What is Your Role In All Of This????? You want independent children, yet you do everything for them. So how is it that you are going to teach them the fundamentals of responsibility. Always remember that an over functioning parent produces an under functioning child!!!!!
We, as parents, need to teach our children what responsibility and accountability is by being true and authentic. If your child puts 100% effort into studies or anything else and still comes up short according to your self-imposed standards, do not criticize or make him/her feel insignificant by your words and actions. Rather acknowledge his/her effort. On the other end of the spectrum, if your child has done something wrong, do not dismiss it, but teach him/her the law of accountability by holding him/her responsible for his/her actions
Parenting is a gift , all we have to do is embrace it…
