Scones
This recipe has been sourced from Mariam Jadwat’s “Creative Cooking” recipe book. It’s always a hit in my home and never disappoints. Lovely for a Sunday breakfast or a gorgeous high tea.
Ingredients:
125g butter
6 tablespoons castor sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk
4 cups flour
8 teaspoons baking powder
Method:
1. Beat butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
2. Beat in sour milk until well combined.
3. Add sifted flour and baking powder and mix to a soft dough.
4. Turn onto floured surface and knead lightly.
5. Roll out to form a round about 2cm thick, and using a cutter, cut into rounds.
6. Place on a greased baking sheet and glaze with beaten egg.
7. Bake at 180 for about 10-12 mins until slightly golden.
8. Serve hot with cream, butter, jams and preserves.
